Terms of business

The plain-English terms that will apply to website packages, hosting, care plans and visibility plans.

Draft for review. These terms summarise the commercial approach agreed so far. They are not yet a contract and must be reviewed (ideally by a solicitor) and completed before publication or use with a client. Figures marked provisional may change.

1. Packages and price

Website packages are fixed-price for the pages, revision rounds and inclusions listed on the Pricing page at the time of quotation. Work outside the package (for example online shops, booking systems, integrations, copywriting, photography and extra pages) is quoted separately in writing before it starts. Prices exclude VAT unless stated [VAT status to confirm].

2. Payment

A [50]% deposit is payable to book the project and begin work, either online through our payment provider (Stripe) or by invoice. Paying the deposit online confirms your order and your acceptance of these terms. The balance is payable on completion, before the site goes live on your domain. Monthly plans bought online are billed monthly in advance by card through Stripe and can be cancelled from the link in any receipt or by emailing us. Invoices are due within [14] days.

3. Content, revisions and timescales

You provide the text, images and business details, or ask us to quote for help with them. A revision round is one consolidated set of change requests on a draft; the number of rounds is stated in your package. We agree a timescale in writing at the start of each project; it depends on content arriving on time.

4. Hosting

Each new website includes [12] months of hosting from the day it goes live. Hosting then renews annually at the price published on the Pricing page at the time of renewal ([£99, provisional]); we notify you at least [60] days before any change in price. Hosting covers the items listed on the Hosting and support page and nothing else. You may stop hosting at any time; the site stays live until the end of the paid period and we provide a full export on request at no charge.

5. Included visibility work

Each new website includes [3] months of the Starter Search plan from the day it goes live, at no charge. It ends automatically. Nothing is charged unless you ask, in writing, to continue on a paid plan.

6. Care plans, pay-as-you-go and visibility plans

Monthly plans are rolling with no minimum term and no annual contract. Either party may end a plan with [30] days’ written notice. Included change time does not roll over. Pay-as-you-go work is quoted before it starts and billed in [15]-minute blocks at [£ rate]. Visibility plans describe work done, not results: we do not guarantee rankings, traffic, enquiries or inclusion in any AI-generated answer.

7. Ownership

On payment in full, the bespoke design and content we created for you are yours. WordPress and any open-source components remain under their own licences (GPL). Any third-party licences (for example premium plugins or fonts) are listed in your handover notes. Your domain is registered in your name. We may show the finished site in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

8. Cancellation and refunds

If you cancel a project after work has begun, the deposit covers work done to that point; where work done exceeds the deposit we invoice the difference at [£45 an hour]. If you are a consumer (buying for purposes outside your trade or business) you have the right to cancel within 14 days of paying online under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask us to start within those 14 days, which we take you to do when you send your brief, you agree to pay for the work done up to the point of cancellation. Monthly plans can be cancelled as in section 6; no refunds are given for the current paid month. [Review with a professional.]

9. Liability and availability

We will do the work with reasonable skill and care. We are not liable for loss of business, data or profit arising from hosting outages, third-party services or changes you make to the site, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months, except where the law does not allow such limits. [Review with a professional.]

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Last reviewed: [date].
